How much space does a passenger elevator actually need?
Less than most people expect. A standard 6-person (450kg) passenger elevator requires a shaft opening of roughly 1500mm × 1600mm. For MRL systems, there’s no separate machine room required. We assess your exact space during the site visit and tell you precisely what’s possible — including whether any structural modifications are needed.
What happens during a power failure?
Modern passenger elevators include Automatic Rescue Device (ARD) systems — battery-powered units that detect power failure and automatically move the cabin to the nearest floor and open the doors. No one gets stuck. We specify ARD as standard on all commercial installations.
How long does installation take?
For a standard 4–6 floor commercial passenger elevator in a prepared shaft, installation typically takes 4–8 weeks from component delivery. Exact timelines are committed in writing before work begins.
What does annual maintenance actually include?
BRS AMC covers scheduled preventive maintenance visits (quarterly), lubrication, inspection of safety systems, door calibration, and control panel diagnostics. Emergency breakdown calls are included during AMC coverage — not billed separately.
Can an existing building be retrofitted?
Yes — this is one of the most common scenarios we handle. Retrofitting requires a structural assessment of available space, load-bearing walls, and shaft feasibility. A site visit determines viability within 48 hours.
What’s the realistic cost range?
We don’t publish price lists because the honest answer is: it depends on floors, load, finish, and shaft condition. We provide a written quotation after the site visit — no cost for the visit, no obligation to proceed.
